Urth Caffe - Drink is an art

Urth Caffe

Urth Caffe claimed to have all their food certified organic. It is means grown 100% chemical free.
I decided to give this place a try! I went with my friend to the downtown of Los Angeles.
The place is not easy to find. I’ve been here twice and I got lost twice!
If you want to go here just remember one thing:
It’s between 4rd and Hewitt St.
You will not believe that out of this area you’ll find a nice cafĂ©.
They serve many different kinds of sandwiches, salads, egg breakfast, soup, and dessert. Their price is reasonable too.

I decided to order their desserts and drinks.
I picked their Oreo Cheesecake and flourless Chocolate cake.
The cheesecake taste delicious, on the bottom you’ll find Oreo crust and smooth cheesecake on top of that. The taste of oreo and cheesecake is incorporated to each other.
The chocolate cake is quite fluffy, It has 3 layers of chocolate custard in the middle of it; The frosting is all dark chocolate. They will give you 2 slices in every order, so if you may want to share it with your friend.
Their cake presentation is not on top of the world, but still pleasant and nice.
Their drink is splendid! I ordered mocha latte, and Moroccan green tea latte.
Moroccan mint green tea latte is a mint matcha (Japanese green tea) latte, they also serves few teas that are rarely find in other places.
Their barista is really doing a great job in preparing the drink. Please see the picture. (What a nice foam flower on top of my lattes)
It’s very pleasant not only to my mouth but also to my eyes. Drink is an art!

Urban Spoon Idea ?

Never underestimate the size of the restaurant.

On Saturday morning, Danyang Song and I went to a short hiking in Eagle Rock city.
After feeling tired and hot, we were up to a good lunch.
I am pretty new to the area and I didn’t know what’s good around there.
Thanks to my Iphone, I installed Urban Spoon apps just for fun, and yes, it’s very useful.
I opened Urban Spoon, they tracked my location right away.
I shaked the phone, and (Aha!) you get a decision!. You don’t have to agree with them, If you don’t like it, you just need to re-shake your phone. That’s simple!

After few shakes, Urban Spoon showed me: Spitz, and according to 146 people who voted, 86% of them like it. So I got to try it.
The restaurant is pretty small, and their menu is pretty simple. ( I love a simple menu! )
They declared this is a home for Donar Kebab.
In the menu you got to choose between 4 choices:

FOLLOW THESE 4 EASY STEPS TO MAKE YOUR MEAL

1: Do you want a Focaccia Sandwich or Lavash Wrap?
2: Choose your Style: from chicken, Classic (lamb), Falafelite, and Veg.
3: Choose your Side; from sweet potato, fried pita chips and hummus, and French fries
4. Extra size

We chose Wrap instead of sandwich because we don’t want to stuff our selves.
I ordered Classic lamb with Pita chips and hummus. My friend ordered the falafelite and French fries.
Their flavor ice tea is refreshing as well.
I am not a big fans of Lamb, but I can handle this kebab.
It is very tasty, and delicious.
The falafelite is fresh, you can taste all the ingredients blended together on the inside, and also you can taste the crunchiness on the outside.
In addition to that, I think they have the best pita chips!!! You got to try it, I am sure you want more and more and more :)

make it a great day!

coffee with salt ? try this at 85c cafe and bakery.

I decide to give this a try on Saturday April 25, 2009

I am a coffee lover, and I love to try new things.

last winter, Starbuck featured "salty hot chocolate"

as their winter drink, I tried it, and loved it. So if you like the salty hot chocolate, you must give this a try!.

The store is always crowded with people who were buying bakeries...but you can go to the other open cashier near the toilet, they can help you with the drink and order to go only!
(AHA!)
As soon as I ordered this coffee, I was wondering how this can be taste good afterall?

my friend commented: "this is why everybody in the world thinks chinese people are weird."

but, as soon as ice coffee handed to me, I grabbed a straw and gave it a try,

First, I didn't really feel the saltiness of it, but after a while, I could taste it.

you can't really see what is inside, their packaging is not what you can see thru....

my advice, you need to stir this drink so the milk foam on top will mixed with cold coffee and make it a blast.

I really enjoy it.

Few recommendation on the drink that they have:

Ice green milk tea, Icetea (grapefruit flavor), or even ice milk tea.

I will post later about their delicious bakeries....

make it a great day!

San Diego Dimsum Restaurant

This month, I will just talk about San Diego. There are many great restaurant around San Diego. I will compose the list of restaurant I usually go when I visit San Diego. I will break down the list with Asian Restaurant first.

1. Jasmine Seafood Restaurant
Address:
Jasmine Seafood Restaurant
4609 Convoy St, Suite A
San Diego, CA 92111
click for driving direction

My highlight for this restaurant is their dimsum.
The open at 9:00 AM, but my suggestion if you are going for their dimsum, try to come at 11:00 because there are more variety of dimsum menu.
The waiting time is around 30mnt to 1 hour. However, It is always worth it to wait.
the prices is not too expensive: you'll spend about $10-20.
I tried their dinner menu (package menu) Their price for Dinner menu is consider expensive. I don't really love their dinner menu.

2. Pearl Chinese Cuisine.
Address:
11666 Avena Place
San Diego , CA 92128
858-487-3388

I went there for Christmas. Apparently, they open 365 days a year. Their dimsum is great. However if you like a turnip cake, their turnip cake is not as good as China Max Turnip cake.
I love their porridges, They serves 4 kind of porridges. I love porridge with preserved eggs.
Yummy!
price start at: $2.60.
This place is always pack too. You have to wait in line more than 30 mnts. My sugesstion
call them first, make a reservation!!!
The view is relatively nice too ( for a Chinese restaurant). You should take a walk to their outdoor patio.
My suggestion, do not got to their restroom. Chinese restaurant will never invest in their restroom.

3. China Max
Address:
4698 Convoy Street #C101
San Diego, CA 92111

U.S.A
China Max is located near Jasmine's restaurant. They are consider pricy, but some items are delicious!
click here to see their dimsum menu.
Many choices to choose. For my opinion, I like Jasmine restaurant for the dimsum!
